Three-Time Super Bowl Champion Tim McKyer Strikes Deal to Avoid Jail Time in Alleged Hit-and-Run Case

Former San Francisco 49ers star Tim McKyer reached a deal to settle his hit-and-run case on Friday.

McKyer, 60, was arrested in Florida last month after allegedly crashing into five cars before fleeing the scene.

Officials said Friday that they would drop the charges against the former defensive back, who won three Super Bowls during a decade-long NFL career, if he successfully completed a pretrial diversion program.

According to court documents obtained by DailyMail.com, McKyer must complete 16 hours of community service and take four hours of defensive driving courses.

In addition, McKyer must also pay $100 by May 16 when a plea conference has been set to assess if he has fulfilled the requirements.

McKyer had reportedly been facing jail time after being charged with five counts of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage.

He also received a criminal citation for leaving the scene and a traffic infraction for failure to report.

The alleged incident took place on February 18 before McKyer was arrested in the early hours of the following morning in Riviera Beach, Florida, where he is said to have driven his Tesla into five vehicles in a parking garage.

McKyer then left the scene, where police said the parked cars were all damaged, with some left ‘inoperable’.

McKyer parked his car on another floor of the garage before leaving. When police tracked him down, he is said to have smelled of alcohol and struggled with his balance.

The 60-year-old was reportedly taken into custody before being sent to the hospital. It’s there that McKyer admitted to being the only driver of the vehicle that night.

McKyer played for seven different teams during an NFL career that spanned from 1986 and 1997.

He joined the league with the 49ers before leaving San Francisco in 1989. The 60-year-old later played for the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos.

McKyer ended up on the winning side in back-to-back Super Bowls during the early years of his NFL career.

He was part of the 49ers team, alongside Joe Montana, that beat the Bengals at the end of the 1988 season before tasting glory again the following year against the Broncos.

McKyer’s third Super Bowl win came after he moved to Denver in the final of his 12 seasons in the NFL. The Broncos beat the Packers in San Diego in January 1998.
