Carly Teller had an experience to forget in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Taking to X following Cleveland’s 27-14 loss to the rival Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, the wife of Browns guard Wyatt Teller put the “blatantly disrespectful” Pittsburgh fans on blast for their “very sad/embarrassing behavior.”
“The fans in Pittsburgh today were so blatantly disrespectful to me and the Browns girls. I’ve never felt so attacked by people who I literally did nothing to. Very sad/embarrassing behavior,” Carly wrote in a post, which has been viewed more than one million times as of Tuesday.
Carly, a mom of two who has been married to Teller since 2021, expanded on the apparent situation in an Instagram Story, according to USA Today.
“When you’re just trying to have a drink and watch your husbands at work but surrounded by Steelers fans who are screaming at them and you the entire time,” read the post, which has since expired.
Although a tense environment isn’t out of the ordinary when it comes to rivalry games, for Teller — who has played for the Browns since 2019 — some boundaries should not be crossed.
“Yeah, they were being rough, but I will say they can say whatever they want as long as they don’t put their hands on a woman or crazy, expose themselves or spit on my wife,” Teller said, per Cleveland.com.
“You can say whatever you want. You’ve got to understand when you’re in a hostile environment like that, what you’re going to get. This rivalry goes back way too long to be like, ‘Oh, you’re just the wife. It doesn’t matter. I hate you.’ Right? And I pray that our fans are a little better, but I know that Dawg Pound can get a little rowdy, so I’m not naive to the fact that this rivalry goes so far back that you’ve got to understand that it’s hostile out there.”
Carly frequently documents her gameday experiences on social media, posting on-field photos with Teller and their son, Brooks.
The Browns (3-10) defeated the Steelers (10-3) at home weeks prior, with Carly attending the snowy “Thursday Night Football” contest at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
“Wyatt’s 30th birthday and a TNF win!” she exclaimed in a Nov. 23 Instagram post.
The Browns have four games left this year after being eliminated from the playoffs. They’ll close out the 2024 season on the road against a fellow AFC North rival in the Ravens.
